How can I give to the work of The Bridge Church?
How can I give to the work of The Bridge Church?
You can give a one-off or recurring gift to The Bridge Church (Charity number SCO12259) from this website using our secure Paypal account.
There are three ways to give regularly
- A regular collection is taken at all Sunday services. Please use the giving envelopes provided.
- By setting up a standing order or Direct Debit with your bank – if you would like details on how to set this up, please contact the Giving Administrator by telephone 01294 557849 or by email bridgechurch@btinternet.com
- Through your employers payroll giving scheme (this only applies if your employer runs such a scheme – your Human Resources department can provide details on this).
Other ways to give
- If you would like to send us a cheque or postal order, please send it to the Giving Administrator and make it payable to The Bridge Church.
- You can give in the form of quoted shares and other securities (which entitles you to tax relief).
- You may also like to consider making a donation to The Bridge Church in your will. Please ask your solicitor when you make or change your will, or ask us for more information.
Tax Efficient Giving
If you pay UK tax (Income or Capital Gains Tax) and would like us to be able to claim back the basic rate tax, you will need to fill in, sign and return to us an ongoing Gift Aid declaration if you have not done so already. See below for more details about Gift Aid.
What is Gift Aid?
Gift Aid is a UK Government Initiative. As a registered Charity, we can reclaim an extra 25% in tax on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. For example, if you give £1, HMRC will add a further 25p to that gift.
Between 6 April 2008 and 5 April 2011, the government will also give UK charities an extra 3% of all eligible donations. This ‘transitional relief’ does not affect your personal tax position. Find out more about Gift Aid by clicking visiting the HMRC website.
How Does Gift Aid Work?
What do I have to do? When you donate, you will be asked to confirm whether or not you are a UK taxpayer. Please note that tax can only be reclaimed on donations made by individuals who pay UK income or capital gains tax at least equal to the amount reclaimed on their donations in the current tax year. If in doubt, please contact bridgechurch@btinternet.com.
Sunday Giving
To help us correctly claim Gift Aid on your giving, please complete the Gift Aid declaration found on the giving envelope with the details required (you only have to fill this out once) and place the envelope in the offering container during the service.
Benefits to higher-rate taxpayers If you pay tax at the higher rate, you can reclaim tax relief on your gross donation at 20% (i.e. the difference between the higher rate of tax at 40% and the basic rate at 20%).
What if I am not a UK taxpayer?
The Gift Aid scheme is unique to the UK. If you are not a UK taxpayer, you can still make a donation, but your donation will not attract Gift Aid.
