The Bridge Monthly Message - January 2012 - The Anounting
The anointing is the manifest presence of God. It is the divine personality of the Holy Spirit.
You must be anointed because no one can fulfil their ministry by natural might or by human power but only by the Spirit.
Even Jesus waited till He was anointed before beginning His ministry and it was also so for the apostles.
Psalm 89
The anointing will result in you receiving supernatural help for your life and ministry.
It will cause you to be raised up in your ministry.
It will establish you in your ministry.
It will strengthen your ministry.
It will protect you from deception.
It will deliver you from the affliction of the devil.
It will cause your enemies who fight against you to be destroyed.
You will experience the loving kindness of God.
It will establish you as a man or woman of authority.
It will cause you to have a covenant relationship with God.
It will give you an enduring ministry.
The anointing is a gift from God to you and therefore cannot be duplicated.
The anointing is released and expressed in different ways according to a person’s personality. God works the gifts, through His people as He wills. 1 Cor 12.
The anointing will often reveal the character of God, love, joy, peace and healing.
It can come corporately or individually. To go with God, we have to flow with God.
To get results, man needs to be involved in cooperating with God.
This is called flow. Prayer, praise and worship is a rhythm and a flow.
Man can stop the flow of the Holy Spirit.
Psalm 92:10 But my horn you have exalted like a unicorn, I shall be anointed with fresh oil.
The Hebrew for anointed is Chrio, which means to smear or rub oil or perfume upon an individual. Oil was poured on the hands then applied.
The anointing is a ‘hands on’ situation.
God’s hand upon our lives fills us with the essence of the Spirit.
The strong presence of the anointing that we see or feel is a signal to let us know that God’s hand is upon an individual.
When we anoint a sick person with oil, it declares that the Spirit of God is coming on the infirmed to bring healing power.
Jesus was Jesus of Nazareth up until the time He was baptised then He was known as The Christ, which in the Greek, is Christos, the anointed One.
Jesus was anointed as prophet, priest and king.
Prophetic anointing was in ministry of the Word, ministry gifts and the gifts of the Spirit.
1 Samuel 10:6 Saul was turned into another man when the prophetic anointing came upon him.
Priestly anointing was in reconciliation, prayer, intercession and praise and worship.
Kingly anointing was in authority, rulership, reigning and power over the enemy.
We as the body of Christ have the same anointing.
There is something you are anointed to do. Don’t say you can’t do anything.
As we partake in our 21 days of fasting and prayer, let each of us trust God for an increase in the anointing in our lives. The last Sunday of January which is the last day of our fast, we will be having an anointing with oil service and you are most welcome to join us as we prepare for the year ahead.
Psalm 45:7 God has anointed you with the oil of gladness.
God bless you,
Pastor Bernie & Nan
