It’s 8:30am and I am in Adelaide, Australia. I can hear the birds singing and the sun is shining through the windows of my room. It’s a joy for me to be with our son Gary and his wife Sarah. They emigrated over a year ago and have settled well into their new home.
Having lived in South Africa for twelve years I know the benefits of living in the Southern Hemisphere. Most of the year is warm and sunny and a big part of life is outdoors. You can plan barbecues, picnics, sports etc without having to make alternative arrangements for the weather. There’s no SAD (Seasonal Disorder Syndrome)People are generally happier and more positive.
But one of the major benefits to me was the ability to get up much earlier in the mornings.
It was easier to get up and spend time in prayer and reading. Even after the long flight over here, we were up early and ready to go!
It would seem that when we live in the UK it’s harder to push through in prayer and grow spiritually. You may be finding your relationship with God challenged and you are battling to stay focussed and your concentration level is not good.
I want to encourage you to press in and pray through the difficult times.
When the sun is shining it’s wonderful and it’s easier to be motivated. But when it’s dark and drab our energy levels can be depleted and it’s hard to work though things.
Always remember that behind the greyness there is a bright and shining light.
God is with us even when we don’t feel He is near. He wants you to be His friend and He wants to bless you.
“Though your beginning was small, Yet your latter end would increase abundantly.”
Job 8:7
“The humble also shall increase their joy in the LORD, And the poor among men shall rejoice In the Holy One of Israel.”
Isa 29:19
Life is so daily and we need God to be our friend. He will never leave you nor forsake you.
