“The LORD said, “Go out and stand on the mountain in the presence of the LORD, for the LORD is about to pass by.” Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountains apart and shattered the rocks before the LORD, but the LORD was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the LORD was not in the earthquake. After the earthquake came a fire, but the LORD was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper.”
I have not always paid attention to some things in my life and found it hard to be focussed and still, long enough to hear from God. I am very much a ‘doing’ person and would hear from God when out walking or running or while about my daily business. There is nothing wrong in that and we should be in constant communication with our Father God, but we do need the quiet and still times of reflection, where we draw close to Him and our communication is Spirit to spirit.
To follow destiny you can know what you believe, but not really know what you plan to do about it. Planning takes time and needs to include for the steps and structure required to get us where we need to be. We need to understand the seasons in our lives and listen for that gentle stillness that ushers in the voice of God.
Before we ask others what we should do, we should first ask God.
Are you listening for His voice? Do you know where you are going? Are you at peace with your life, or do you feel unsettled and unfulfilled?
Jesus came to give us an abundant and full life and if that is not your experience then you do need to take time out, be still, and talk to God.
We know we all get tried and tested but that fullness of life goes beyond the external circumstances we find ourselves in. We should have an inner peace, a calm in the midst of the storm. A knowing that we are on the right path that will lead us towards our destiny.
Following Jesus is not restricting or forbidding.
The Jesus you know and love wants to lead you to a large life, not a small and narrow life.
Don’t get too busy that you can’t take the time to listen to the Holy Spirit’s leading.
Life is so daily and we need to hear His gentle whisper so we can know His peace, joy and direction.
